What You Need To Consider When Buying A Bridal Gown

Alterations Bridal Appointment Bridal Gown Dress Fitting How Much Should I Spend On My Wedding Dress Wedding Day Wedding Dress Wedding Dress Alterations When to order a dress

In this post we are focusing on a few questions that we get asked regularly and we'd love to know if you have anymore!

How much time do I really need when ordering a wedding dress?

Here at Bridal Originals we usually suggest that you order your dress at least 5 - 6 months before the date of your wedding, or in the case of those travelling abroad 5 - 6 months before you travel.

What if I don't have 5-6 months before my wedding?

The amount of time needed to order a wedding dress varies according to the designer. In most cases there is an opportunity to order a dress on express delivery (essentially paying to skip the queue). But we still need between 8-12 weeks.

We do hold some stock and we also have a large range of samples on sale to suit every bride.

How much should I spend on my dress?

We always suggest that you do your research. Consider what you want from your day and set your self a budget.

Be realistic... Look at the venue that you want, the style of dress, bridesmaids dresses, suits for the men etc and make sure that you can really afford it.

There's no etiquette involved when deciding on how much to spend on your dress. The best thing to do is research prices and work from there.

If the price is below £400 for a brand new dress then it's probably too good to be true!

How does a bridal appointment work?

We absolutely love it when you've had a look through the site before you come to the store!

This will give you an idea of the samples that we have in store and the sort of styles that catch your eye.

When you come to the store make sure that you are a few minutes early, appointments do over-run but by being early you might even get seen before your time. If you are going to be late then please do call... You might end up missing your appointment otherwise!

You will be asked about the styles that you like, so having pictures is a good idea. You'll also be asked about the date of your wedding and the budget that you have set aside for the gown.

Don't be offended by this question or think that this means that the sales assistant will be trying to sell you something that is at the top end of your budget instead of showing you things that are under. We ask this question so that we don't show you something that is way above.

At our store we allow you to try a maximum of four/six gowns during your allotted time. This is so that you aren't overwhelmed and left confused by the choice available.

How does the ordering process work?

At the time of ordering your measurements will be taken and the closest size to your mearsurements on the size chart will be ordered.

At the time of ordering your gown you will pay a 50% deposit with the remainder being paid when you come for your fitting.

Will I be charged for alterations?

Alterations are charged extra but the best option for you will be considered at the time of ordering. Our main aim is to make sure that as few alterations need be made as possible.

We hope that this post has both been informative and helped to put your mind at ease. If you have any questions that you want answered then please don't hesitate to get in contact with us!
